Kitchen before and after!

This is probably the one I'm most excited about. The kitchen was horrible when we started. This has also been the one that has taken the longest. This will probably be a long post since I have a lot of pictures :)

This was about the extent of counter space  A few feet between the sink and the stove. There was counter by the fridge and stove, but it was really hard to get to them since the appliances were in the way.
There was an random space between the stove and the counter. It was just an empty gap that I guess they used for storage.

So we moved the fridge next to the stove and put a little cabinet between them, Joe made almost all the cabinets, using a lot of the old ones. We made cabinets that actually fit over the fridge and microwave instead of the random ones above.
We put in a different counter and back splash  Joe put in this corner cabinet with a lazy susan. They just had 2 square ones, such wasted space.
We added this extra little peninsula on one end and cut a hole in the wall between the living room and kitchen. I love this, it feels so much more open since I can be in the kitchen and still be involved in what's going on the living room.
Joe added 6 drawers and a dishwasher. There were no drawers when we moved in.  We'll finish framing out the dishwasher soon, don't worry :)
Here's a good over view of the kitchen. We put down a new floor, covering up the blue tiles and put in a sandstone type flooring. We also painted and covered the weird fake brick on the walls. Oh I didn't get a picture of this, but we also took out the chandelier and put in a much better light fixture. Joe kept hitting his head on the light because the ceiling was so low!
Here's a close up of the back splash. Isn't it gorgeous? I was so happy when we found it.
