Emotions
I admit, I'm pretty scared of emotion. I like to be in control, so feeling something that I can't control, or sometimes even explain, terrifies me. I constantly have to remind myself that God created me with emotions. He even has emotion, so it can't be all bad right? I sometimes believe it... more often then I used to anyway. So that was part of the purpose of this blog, to express emotions I don't necessarily understand. Things like nearly crying over paint colors because I didn't think they looked right. (Paint is a totally different color when it's dry then when it's wet, by the way) I think there is an extere to emotions, but I'm sure I'm not there yet. Sometimes I feel like a child with emotions, because I ignored them for such a long time. Joe has been great and bringing out and helping emotions. I'm so grateful for him. =)

The Bathroom
We finally have a finished shower! My poor wonderful husband built one for us. =) He spend long frustrating hours on it, but it's wonderful now.

Moving Day!
Sorry for the lack of updates lately, we've moved! The problem is we don't quite have internet at our new house yet, so posting might be farther in between. Thanks to much help from family and friends we were able to get pretty much all our stuff moved in about an hour! What a relief. =) Now I just get to unpack it all. But I would much rather unpack then pack. I think it's easier. This is one of the smaller stacks of boxes :)

The worst part of packing
Would you like to know what the worst part of packing is? The last five or ten boxes. I'm really good about labeling everything and keeping it organized till then. Because what I have left doesn't fill a box. So I have half a box of stuff from the bathroom and half a box of clothes. Everything that I couldn't pack earlier, still doesn't make sense to pack. I still think my stuff expands as it's placed in boxes. I'm looking around trying to figure out how many boxes are left. Then I forget about things, like stuff from the fridge that I still need to pack. There's never really a good time to pack stuff from the fridge or your bedding. The other problem with pack those last few boxes is that my markers which sat on the desk so nicely are in a box. So I couldn't mark the boxes, even if the contents of the box were the same.

More painting and a shower!
I'm going to post the most improved pictures for now. Personally I think our bedroom is most improved, but I just now decided that I'm going to surprise you with it when it's totally done. Since that's the room I put the most thought into. So today the most improved award go to the kitchen! We painted the weird brink that only went around half the room and more its like a cappuccino color. Lovely. :)
Joe spent all day putting in a shower and building a frame for it. My poor husband was very frustrated and
exasperated with it, but now we have a shower!

Day two of improvements!
I spent most of the day priming our walls. Here are the before/ after shots.
In case you're wondering how many coats of white paint it takes to cover dark wood, it's at least three. Probably 4, but we'll see tomorrow after coat number 3 has dried. I'm trying to get our trim in the bedroom white. It's taking more patience. :) God can use anything to teach me!
Joe spent his day lifting our house. The living room floor was seriously sagging. Now it's all fixed!

Flooring!
Today's project (and probably several more days after) is flooring. So after we signed our life away during closing, we went shopping and bought almost all the things we'll need. So project one, flooring. First we ripped up almost off the carpeting. By 'we' I mostly mean Joe, his brother and brother in law. Underneath the carpet in the living room, we found not one, not two but 3 hardwood floors on top of each other. Really, who does that? So the first level was really terrible, so we went to the next level. This is the junk wood that Joe tore out.
This is a really nice floor, it's just covered in huge nails that I get to help pull out. This is a close up. Pretty isn't it?
In our bedroom we pulled this lovely orange carpet up to find the owners didn't feel like tacking it down, just spreading glue over the whole floor.
So now half the carpet padding is stuck to the floor. Another job for me and my sister! But at least we're covering it with laminate flooring so it doesn't have to be perfect.
Home ownership is fun! (At least that what I'm hoping I'll eventually believe =D)

My favorite things
This week is going to be fantastic! I get to do many of my favorite things. We close on our house on Monday, so that involves two of my favorite things, painting and moving. I'm so excited to have our first house and get everything organized! And of course I love the paint colors we picked out so I'm super psyched to see if they turn out like I'm hoping. Another favorite thing going on this week is a yearly play put on by a Christian school in the area. It's always a very well put together play and very enjoyable. This year they're going Fiddler on the Roof, which is pretty high on my list of favorite musicals. I was literally bouncing around at church today in anticipation of everything going on. I will try to be posting, especially about the house, this week.

Relationships in the church
I think relationships in the church are one of the most forgotten and overlooked areas of our life. Honestly, how many people in your church would you consider to be really good friends? That you could tell anything to. The hard part is these friendships can be the most encouraging and honest if you let them. But it's so hard too because Christians, as a whole, are very judgmental. We have really high standards, which is great, but then we sometimes hold others to higher standards then we hold ourselves. I used to never want to really share things with people at church because I didn't want them to think I was a lesser Christian. I didn't want them to think I was a terrible person because I was thinking or saying things that 'good Christians" don't do. Yes we should have high standards and keep each other accountable. But there is also a line into judgement that should not be crossed. Your opinion of them shouldn't be swayed by what they say. After all, we're all guilty too.
