The 'easy' way out

I like taking the easy way out. If I feel like I can avoid a conflict or pain, for myself or those close to me, I'm going for it. But is the easy way really the easy way? Usually it leads to more and worse conflict and pain later. It's just deferring it for a later date. Maybe I think I'll be stronger when it comes back up. Or more willing to risk being vulnerable.  But putting off conflicts doesn't make me stronger or teach me anything. I'm not going to get stronger by putting things off till tomorrow. I often have to remind myself that the easy way is usually not easier in the long run and it's certainly not the best way. But people are like water and we follow the path of least resistance. I have to fight my nature to remind myself of this. =)
